When to wear a wave cap

A mesh cap is the daytime tool: light enough to wear under a hat or hood, breathable enough for the gym, and strong enough to keep your pattern from lifting between brush sessions. Swap to a silk durag overnight for moisture retention.

Layering for maximum compression

Brush, apply a light moisturiser, pull the mesh cap on so the seam sits flat across the crown, then tie a durag over the top. The mesh distributes pressure while the durag adds the smooth surface that lays the wave pattern down.

Questions

Good to know

Mesh cap or durag first?
Mesh cap first, durag over it. The cap grips the hair, the durag smooths it.
Does mesh cause breakage?
Not at this weave density. The mesh is fine-gauge with flat seams, so it holds without snagging.
Can I wear it to the gym?
Yes — mesh is the most breathable option and dries fast after a wash.
How long does the stretch last?
Hand-wash cool and air dry and the elastic band stays firm for months of daily wear.
